Studio Policies

Glaze Garden

At Glaze Garden, we aim to create a calm, welcoming space where people of all ages can enjoy working with clay. The following policies help ensure a positive experience for everyone in the studio.

If you have questions at any point, we’re always happy to help.

Studio Visits & Glaze Your Own Pottery

  • Glaze Your Own Pottery is available during open studio hours unless otherwise noted.

  • Most glaze sessions take 60–90 minutes, though guests are welcome to take the time they need.

  • All pottery is glazed in the studio and fired off-site. Finished pieces are intended for everyday use unless otherwise specified.

Because pottery is handmade, slight variations in color, texture, and finish are a natural part of the process.

Children & Age Guidelines

Glaze Your Own Pottery

Children are welcome in the studio.

  • Any child who can comfortably hold a brush is welcome to glaze pottery.

  • Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

  • Adults are expected to remain in the studio and actively supervise.

We appreciate your help in keeping the studio safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Wheel Throwing Experiences

Guided Wheel Play (Ages 4–7)
Children ages 4–7 may participate in a guided, playful introduction to the pottery wheel.

  • This is not a formal lesson

  • Focus is on exploration, sensory experience, and fun

  • An adult must be present and actively involved

  • Pieces created during guided play may not be kept

Wheel Throwing Lessons (Ages 8+)
Structured wheel throwing lessons are available for students ages 8 and up.

  • Lessons focus on basic technique and skill development

  • Designed for students able to follow multi-step instruction

  • Finished pieces are intended to be fired and kept

If you’re unsure which experience is the best fit, we’re happy to help you decide.

Finished Pieces & Turnaround Times

Glazed pottery is fired on a rotating schedule. Typical turnaround times are as follows:

  • Glaze Your Own Pottery:
Finished pieces are usually ready for pickup within 7–10 days.

  • Wheel Throwing Lessons (Ages 8+):
Pieces created during wheel throwing lessons require additional drying time and are typically ready within 10–14 days.

Guests will be notified via their preferred contact method when their pieces are ready for pickup. If no preference is recorded, notifications will be sent via email.

Turnaround times may vary slightly based on kiln schedules and studio volume.

Due to limited studio storage space, finished pottery created by guests will be held for a limited time.

  • Finished pieces will be kept for up to 90 days after the date they are ready for pickup.

  • Guests will be notified when their pieces are ready.

  • After 90 days, unclaimed pieces may be donated, repurposed, or discarded at the studio’s discretion.

We are unable to store pieces beyond this timeframe and appreciate your understanding.

Care & Use of Pottery

Unless otherwise noted:

  • Stoneware pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe

  • Earthenware pottery is recommended to be hand wash only

  • Handmade pottery should be handled with care to ensure longevity

Because glaze results can vary, exact colors and finishes are not guaranteed.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • Experience cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance are eligible for a full refund.

  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled experience are not eligible for a refund.

  • No-shows may not be refunded.

If you need to cancel, please contact us as soon as possible.

  • All pottery and retail items are final sale.

  • We do not accept returns or issue refunds for products sold.

Because pottery is handmade, natural variations in color, texture, and finish are part of the process and not considered defects.

Studio Safety & Conduct

  • Clay, glaze, and tools must be used as directed.

  • Running, rough play, or unsafe behavior may result in the session ending early.

  • We reserve the right to pause or redirect activities to maintain a safe environment.
